White Dorper Sheep
The Dorper is a South African breed of meat sheep which comes in two forms--- the standard Dorper, with a black head and white body, and the White Dorper, a solid white sheep.  These two forms of Dorpers are considered as separate breeds in the registries--- you cannot mate Dorper to White Dorper and register the offspring.
Both Dorper breeds are very fertile meat sheep who do not need to be sheared--- their light wool coat is shed every year. They also do not need tail-docking, though some breeders do it anyway.
White Dorpers are the less common of the two kinds of Dorpers, both in the US and in South Africa.

White Dorper Sheep

Last year we began with the White Dorper breed by the purchase of a White Dorper ram, 'Aprika'.  Bred to my Shetland ewes, he has produced a number of percentage White Dorper daughters who will be the founders of our White Dorper flock.

"Aprika" - 1776 White Dorpers #0135 --- lounging around shedding his fleece.  "Aprika" is a registered 87% White Dorper.

"Jini", a registered 43% White Dorper ewe lamb. Those green marks on her are from tattoo ink.  Daughter of "Aprika" and Insel Lyr Nadezhda, a moorit Shetland ewe.
